So, I thought, what better way to start our blog than with sharing some pictures of our own wedding. Matt and I, the founders of The Foil Invite Company finally tied the knot this July after twelve years of not quite getting round to it. It was a fantastic day. I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so much, it was relaxed and happy, just like we hoped for.
You might think we had it easy, ‘at least you’ve got the invites sorted’ everyone said to us. But the pressure to create something extra special made it extra hard. Right from the start Matt wanted to use greyboard – heavy, tactile and full of warmth and character. It gives a lovely laid back and natural feel which perfectly suited out day.
Yellow quickly became our dominant colour. Despite me originally insisting that we weren’t going to have a colour scheme, I’m so glad we did as the bold use of yellow definitely added sunshine to our somewhat rainy wedding day. We used a bright yellow gloss foil for the text on our invitations to add an element of fun. Our Save the Date cards were printed in white gloss foil printed onto Colorplan ‘Factory Yellow’ card by the UK’s finest paper manufacturers G.F Smith. Three shades of the same card were used to make a hanging photo backdrop, with hundreds of discs, cut out me and painstakingly hand sewn by my fantastic sister-in-law.
We created an entwined MW monogram where the letters conveyed ‘tying the knot’ (get it?) This worked particularly well embossed into the soft grey board invites. We even made a 4 foot yellow perspex MW sign to hang at the venue and as a surprise my mother-in-law put an MW topper on our wedding cake!
Everything was caught on camera by the amazingly talented Nicola Thompson. We couldn’t be more pleased with these fresh and vibrant images, they capture our day beautifully.
